Recommendation Letters

Many colleges require two teacher recs and allow one additional rec, but it seems like Wash U requires one teacher rec and allows for one more rec, regardless of whether it is from a teacher or someone else. This throws a wrench in my plans because I was planning on sending two teacher recs and a rec from my employer. Common App says 1 required, 2 allowed for teacher recs and 0 required, 1 allowed for other recommender. But Wash U seems to only want 2 recs total:

"Washington University requires information from the high school guidance counselor and one Teacher Evaluation from an academic teacher in high school with whom the student has taken a course. Extra letters are not required, but if you would like to submit an additional letter, you are welcome to do so. While some students choose to submit an additional teacher recommendation, others choose to submit an extra letter of recommendation from a coach, an employer, or a member of the clergy because that person can provide unique insights that teachers may not include."

What should I do? Am I allowed to send three recs, or should I just send one teacher rec + employer rec?

From what it says you can send all three. That’s fine. Good luck! :)

Thanks! :)
