Recommendation Letters

I know that when you ask teachers to do recommendation letters for you, you usually give them some information about yourself which includes majors you will likely pursue in college.

What I would like to ask is, would it be problematic towards college admissions if you change your mind on the major you would like to apply for after your teachers have already written the letters? Or do most teachers just generally write about how you've performed in their classes and not so much on your choices of majors?

The latter. They might highlight your interest as they're relevant to what they've seen, but other than that, they don't usually go much into your choice of major. For example, if your interest is linguistics/foreign language, a recommendation from, say, an English teacher might highlight your command of language when communicating with others. That sort of thing.
