Okay, so I’m a senior trying to sort out which teachers to ask for college recommendations and I’ve gotten it down to two.
One of them is my ex physics teacher who absolutely adores me. He consistently expresses the opinion that I’m one of the best students he’s ever had and we get on very well. I’ve got a great relationship with him–I have my own workspace in his room this year because I’m in there so much, and I don’t even have a class with him. The issue is that he’s really unreliable. Most of the students he recommends aren’t accepted, and I’ve been warned against asking him by past students.
The second teacher is my ex chemistry teacher, who also knows me fairly well. She liked me quite a lot and I was one of her best students, but probably not one the best in her career. Her recommendation would probably be great, but not exceptional.
I’m not sure which teacher to ask, and I’m trying to not send supplemental recommendations. Is it better to chance an incredible rec but risk a dicey one, or to just stick with the reliably solid recommendation?
