Recommended Cancer Programs?

Hi all,

Does anyone have any suggestions for notable cancer research (specifically cancer genetics) programs? I am interested in this field, but I don't know where to look for suggested programs.

Thanks ahead of time!

Hi,
I currently work at MIT in cancer genetics. It is a great place to be (if you can stand the terrible winters). I highly recommend it. Very dynamic, well funded, and cutting edge research.

i think that any top tier biology program like harvard or UCSF would have excellent faculty who study cancer

Hey - You absolutely should check out the Sloan-Kettering Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences/Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences. Cancer work is pretty much all they do, and they are a notoriously good program, with notoriously awesome benefits.

Star4Wars, when do you plan to apply to graduate school? Do you have any more specific interests in the field of cancer genetics? If so, try a pubmed search and look for your favorite articles and find out where those faculty members are from. There are many great places in the US to choose from (GSK, UW-FHCRC, UT-MD Anderson, Dana-Farber, MIT, Stanford). Many cancer centers are usually affiliated with a university (i.e. Harvard and Dana-Farber, UW and Fred Hutchinson). Try to look at the faculty members as well to find similar interests. I think once you really get into a specific topic of cancer genetics, then finding schools that are the best in these areas should come rather quickly. Good luck!

Thank you guys...very good ideas. masta_ace, its hard for me to figure out what specific topic that I might be interested in only because there are so many of them. However, looking at professors specifically is a good idea (especially since the majority of graduate school would be dedicated to working with one specifically).

Any other suggestions would be appreciated...keep them coming!
