Dartmouth Receives Record Number of Applications for the Class of 2015|Dartmouth Now

Dartmouth has received more than 21,700 applications for acceptance into the fall Class of 2015. The number is a record for the College and represents a 15.7 percent increase from last years pool of 18,778 applications.

Oh no, that means admissions is more competitive than ever.

How much do you think this year’s RD admission rates will drop by?
I’m thinking at least 2%.

My guesstimation is that this year’s admit rate for RD would be around 8.6%.

So that’s what the crushing of my minuscule chances sounds like.
*sigh

That’s like, HYP level! D:

Dartmouth is shooting up the rankings. It’s consistently been at the top, but it’s still climbing!

I almost don’t want to post for fear of making applicants even more stressed but the numbers as I see it are:

Total class size goal 1090
Admitted early 444

Remaining spots to be
filled regular decision 646

If dartmouth has a 50% yield (ballpark)

Need to accept rd 1300

That makes around a 6.5 % rd admit rate. (1300 divided by 20000)

Just my guess, really.

Mathematicism, what is your 8.6% based on?

Their 50% yield is including the ED admits.

Usually, the RD yield is about 40%, which results in a projected 8% RD acceptance rate.

:( mehh

And all we can do now is sit around and cross our fingers…

yeah. I just checked my application status and it says everything is still being processed. I’m not surprised. Admission offices must be crazy busy right now.

xavier110 - Yep your numbers are right.

8%… it’s going to be even less for internationals like me :(

The Colleges acceptance rate will be just at or below 10 percent this year, signifying a decrease from the 11.5 percent of applicants who were accepted into the Class of 2014, Maria Laskaris, dean of admissions and financial aid, said in an interview with The Dartmouth.

I’m just glad that I applied this year. I can’t imagine what gr.12 students are going to feel 10 years down the road, when they have to apply. Admission rates are dropping like crazy

I think though that they are going to have a smaller percent yield this year, since they did not have a supplement. I know a bunch of people who applied because they could, and there wasn’t any extra work for them involved…that means more people off the waiting list!!
