wow, pretty surprised by the disparity between student ranking and recruiter ranking (those that employ graduates). we actually rank ahead of Ross, Kelley, ND b-school and many others. (not counting Wharton due to unwillingness to participate) **the student ranking of UIUC is 44 while recruiters rank them 3. what gives? thats a huge gap. **for me, i think the recruiter survey is the most important ranking of them all. 3 is great and makes me even more excited

yeah, that is impressive. but at the same time, I really don't know how much those numbers mean. looking at some of the rather extreme jumps from last year's edition to this year's, it looks as if they're still working out some kinks in their ranking system. nonetheless though it's very good for UIUC.

As with any ranking system, one should not rely on it to make decisions about where to attend. As to the difference between the student ranking and the recruiter ranking, the student ranking weighed such factors as parking, on and off campus dining, weather, quality and size of on and off campus housing facilities, greek life, night life and other things that have a lot to do with campus life but little to do with ability to get employment after college. UIUC seems to have been killed by campus dining and weather for both of which it got a D. The dining is actually fairly decent but even an act of Congress could not change Illinois weather.

They severely underrate Purdue, a B in job placement is ridiculous, not to mention I'm sure recruiters don't have us in the bottom half. USNews seems more accurate.
