Rec's and grades never arrived at SSAT....

Our D has applied to three schools using the common SSAT application, her school says they sent all the documents out together on January 30th. They were sent in a Priority Mail envelope we provided (they were supposed to go separately from the different teachers, but the administration put them all in one envelope.) Regardless the documents haven't shown up on SSAT as received. By comparison we sent out via Priority Mail documents January 28th and those documents were received on the 31st. I'm not sure what we can do about this? The schools will be making decisions and we have no idea where her documents are? Anyone run into this this week or are there any suggestions as to what we should do next?

You probably weren’t the only ones to wait until the deadline to send things in. My understanding is that it can take up to a week for SSAT to open and log the incoming mail. So don’t panic yet. If you haven’t seen it posted by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, then you can call SSAT and see what’s up.

And the schools are well aware of the time involved in getting all the parts of the application recorded. If yours isn’t complete yet, they’ll just set it aside until it is.

Thanks Dodgersmom, do you think they will consider it a late application? Or will it be considered on time? Everything we could send in we did, it’s just the documents from the school…

My sense is that at most schools this is not considered a “late application.” If they have your materials, that should count as being on-time. FYI, it was a full 2-weeks after they should have received our supplement that SSAT actually posted it. I assume many people will be in your position.

Sorry, this might be a stupid question, but what is the SSAT? O_O Is it something else other than that assessment? o-o…?

Thank you! Sorry!

I had a similar issue with SSAT earlier in the month. When I called them they told me they had the documents but were swamped and it would take a few more days to show up online as received. They also told me that the documents are considered “on time” when they are received at SSAT not when the website is updated.

The SSAT has a site where you can create an account and, much like the Common Application for colleges, you have your transcripts, recommendations, etc. sent to the SSAT site and then it sends them out to all the school you apply to so you avoid having the hassle and expense of sending all of them out individually to the schools.

OHHH, okay. I understand now…thanks so much!

Thanks so much for confirmation that you to had a delay problem with SSAT Momof7thgrader. I’m just getting a bit worried since schools have to make a decision and the clock is winding down! I’ll call Tuesday if I’ve not seen anything post.
