I actually made some really good points in my application for Swarthmore Discovery Weekend. I put time into it and it depicts me as a person. Obviously, I'm not going to send the same exact essay. But I would just use a paragraph or two.

Do you think that'd be a problem? Do you even think they'd still have my DW essay?

Having now spent a weekend at Swarthmore hanging out in Swarthmore dorms with Swarthmore students and eating meals with Swarthmore professors, you might have some raw material for an even better "Why Swarthmore?" essay.

Yes yes, of course. But Swarthmore's approach to grades and education is one of the things I really love about it. In my essay I wrote about grades and education and, although I was unaware at the moment, Swarthmore feels the same exact way I do!

So I'll just use parts again, plus all the new stuff of course. Thanks for the information!

You should know that they DO keep your DW application and can access it as part of your overall application. I'd really encourage you to write a new essay, even if you incorporate the same writing style or use a few of the same points...

I think it's perfectly fine to use parts of your DW essay, but definitely keep in mind that the people who will read your essay have also read your DW essay as well, and they keep the essays too. If your reasons for going to Swarthmore haven't changed since attending DW, I think it's fine to restate your DW essay (because that contains exactly why you want to go to Swarthmore), but don't copy and paste it. Based on what you said, though, your idea is a good one.
