Red Book new with old Black book?

So after waiting for a long time, I finally got the ACT Red Book 4th edition which has the most updated details about the test. But the thing is I bought the Black Book as well which is completely based on the 3rd edition of the Red Book. I wanted to seek help to know how do I manage these together or somehow make both work! Anyone?

In the same situation. We just ordered a used copy of the 3rd edition of the red book on Amazon for working with the black book. Trying to figure out the page number equivalents looked like an exercise in frustration.

If it were me,I would just go to the local library and take out the 3rd edition to follow along in the Black Book, and use the 4th to practice the concepts you saw the black book demonstrate.

We ended up buying the 3rd edition from amazon because it was too hard with the 4th.

Yeah the current black book won’t work with the newest red book; there’s only a few sections that are similar from the previous version. Best bet is to buy the 3rd edition or go to the library.

I read somewhere that the reason the 3rd edition red book wasn’t working anymore is that ACT changed the test a bit, especially the essay. So is the black book still helpful?

I’ve only seen one real reference to the red book so far in the black book, so I’m unclear on just how much the black book depends on the red book. Is it useless/impossible to get through the entire black book without the 3rd edition red book?
