Redeemed Bad First Semester of college. Is this enough?

So my first semester of college, (SUNY at bing) I Blew it. I tried, but I never gave it my all, and I finished with a 2.9 GPA. Grades were:
Chemistry: C
Calculus I: B-
World Civ: A
English : A-
Engineering prin: R(Dropped)

However, I decided to turn my life around, and I switched my major

Sem 2 Grades
Chem 102: A
Calc II: A-
World Civ: A
Bio 201 : A

Summer:
Chemistry: A (retaken)
Biology 200: A

Cum. GPA: 3.73

Sophomore:
Orgo Chem: B+
Evol. Bio: A
Chinese : A
Physics I: B

Did stem cell research with bio professor, vol. at hospital, and made the honors college + deans list 1st sem of soph

now my GPA is around a 3.7+, give or take a few points, and i'm trying to apply for the winter semester to schools like Columbia (ik, a reach), umich (1st choice), emory, MSU, and notre dame.

Do I have a chance at any of these schools? Will they forgive my bad grades first semester of college? (and my tough soph year -_-")

I really do want to go to Umich, I was born there. OH, here are my high school credentials. They're REALLY bad.

HS ACT: 28
HS GPA: 2.8

You guys can be harsh. I won’t take offense.

And Umich is really what I care about, just saying

I doubt anyone knows because not a lot of people are applying to Michigan. With that said, the freshman acceptance rate is a whopping 40% so I think you have a good shot as a transfer.

^Yea, but I heard that their acceptance rate for transfers are going down, because so many more freshman are getting rejected, and they re-apply after they go to college

:/

Id first like to congratulate you on the growth! Definitely an upward grade trend and stability that admissions are looking for. You definitely showed that you can take rigorous courses which is a plus, but the only thing I’d focus on is your recommendations and essays if they require you to have any. Also, if you fill out the app and if there as an opportunity to add additional comments, it won’t hurt to possibly explain yourself for your first semester performances and the growth you have achieved!

Good luck
