Reed admission

Hello

I'm a student from Venezuela and I am applying as a international transfer student. But I'm a bit confused about the essay thing.

I've already written my "Why Reed", I wrote it in creative way. Like I explained how my personality fits reed's " culture", and although I mentioned how reed is such a good school I didn't focus too much on it, because I think that anyone that applies there already knows that anyways. it's 500 word long, What do you think?

Personal essay (Please provide a statement (250 words minimum) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve. )

Here I'm not too sure what to write because somehow I feel like I already explained that in the other essay. should I be more formal in this one and clearly state what my aspirations are at reed?

And in the commonapp there also is a " additional information" thing where I can upload documents, I don't know what should I do there...

I was a exchange student in Switzerland and I learned german ( I have a certificate), I actually lived in america for a year and did 4th grade there ( I received a bunch of awards but I guess those arent important). I belonged to my schools soccer team, I am a spanish tutor online. I worked at a factory, I participated in a Model of the united nations, and I did 60 hours of volunteering.

So, I don't know what to say or send, because somewhere in reeds website I read applicant should not send certificate, they should just mention it . I'm confused as you see.

Also, I think I will do great in CR in the SAT, over 700 or something but I think Math would be like barely 600. Do you think that's really bad? Even though I'm in 3rd semester in College some stuff there like geometry we just don't study much =/. Oh and the TOEFL I think I could almost get a perfect score.

One last thing I have a 3.76 in HS and a 3.55 in College so far, but in Venezuela we are not graded on a curve, Do people in reed know that? like I am the 2nd student with the highest average in my semester...

Anyhoo, please help this confused Venezuelan ;)

Adios

look on the reed specific board here

Your "Why Reed" essay sounds fine. You can approach the personal essay in many good ways. I think they mostly care that you explain clearly your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve. Additional information is for things that you think you want to say in your application that wasn't mentioned elsewhere. One example is if you experienced psychological issues that impacted your grades. If Reed's website says that you should not send the certificate, then don't send it. Mention it (say in your application, probably the extracurricular section, that you learned German). I wouldn't worry about the SAT too much, just do your best. I don't know if the college knows that in Venezuela you're not graded on a curve. In my high school we had grade inflation, but not a curve. Is that what you meant? If you're unsure about whether Reed knows it, then say it somewhere in your application.
