Venezuelan asking about Reed

Hello

I'm a student from Venezuela and I am applying as a international transfer student. But I'm a bit confused about the essay thing.

I've already written my "Why Reed", I wrote it in creative way. Like I explained how my personality fits reed's " culture", and although I mentioned how reed is such a good school I didn't focus too much on it, because I think that anyone that applies there already knows that anyways. it's 500 word long, What do you think?

Personal essay (Please provide a statement (250 words minimum) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve. )

Here I'm not too sure what to write because somehow I feel like I already explained that in the other essay. should I be more formal in this one and clearly state what my aspirations are at reed?

And in the commonapp there also is a " additional information" thing where I can upload documents, I don't know what should I do there...

I was a exchange student in Switzerland and I learned german ( I have a certificate), I actually lived in america for a year and did 4th grade there ( I received a bunch of awards but I guess those arent important). I belonged to my schools soccer team, I am a spanish tutor online. I worked at a factory, I participated in a Model of the united nations, and I did 60 hours of volunteering.

So, I don't know what to say or send, because somewhere in reeds website I read applicant should not send certificate, they should just mention it . I'm confused as you see.

Also, I think I will do great in CR in the SAT, over 700 or something but I think Math would be like barely 600. Do you think that's really bad? Even though I'm in 3rd semester in College some stuff there like geometry we just don't study much =/. Oh and the TOEFL I think I could almost get a perfect score.

One last thing I have a 3.76 in HS and a 3.55 in College so far, but in Venezuela we are not graded on a curve, Do people in reed know that? like I am the 2nd student with the highest average in my semester...

Anyhoo, please help this confused Venezuelan ;)

Adios

You've led an interesting life.

You should definitely answer the transfer essay. Your reasons for transferring may be related to why you feel Reed is right for you, but what they're looking for is probably more information about your experience at your current college, and how that led to your decision to transfer, whether it's to Reed or another college in the U.S.

In general, any achievements before high school shouldn't go into the application (although there are some exceptions, such as national awards). You might mention the fact that youlived in the U.S. as a child in one of your essays.

Answer all essay questions on the Common App, even if you feel they are somewhat redundant with Reed's supplemental questions. You might make a list of all of your reasons for transferring, and divide them between the CA prompt and Reed's supplemental prompt. You can't really say much in 250 words, after all.

It's fine to include information that doesn't fit elsewhere in the "additional information" section of the Common App. In fact, that's what it's mean for. You don't have to write another essay, however -- just listing the facts will usually be enough.

Good luck!
