Wondering if Reed Admit Days (formerly known as Reed Activity Days) are worth the time/expense. My son did the campus visit a year ago and is definitely planning to attend Reed in the fall. We're wondering if going to RAD will help his transition (maybe he'll meet some people he can keep in touch with over the summer, decide which dorms he'd like to be in, etc.) He'll have to fly by himself and take a couple of days off school, so it would require a bit of a commitment of time and money.

Would love to hear from other students who have done RAD in the past. Did it help you get acclimated? Is it fun or is it pretty much like the campus visit?

I’m a freshman who went to RAD last year and can definitely say that the experience was worth the cross-country flights You’re right in your thoughts that your son could meet potential friends, as this is the first time a significant portion of admitted students are congregating at once. While it’s true that we might not remember everyone we meet, I met my roommate and several other friends there. You also get the chance to meet current Reedies who love to answer questions! There are special events too planned just for the prospies, like the Weapons of Mass Distraction fire show!

But really, the simple act of living on campus for a couple days gives a new perspective on Reed, as tours and visits can only give one side of the experience ^^
