Reed College | Class of 2020 RD | Results & Discussion

It looks like students living abroad will get an email on Friday, April 1st. Notification for students living or attending school in the US will be mailed on Friday, April 1st.

Does anyone understand the point of Reed’s process? Other elite LACs can get their decisions out earlier and electronically. As I understand it, even the Ivies are announcing electronically tomorrow. This just seems incredibly pretentious and unnecessarily cruel to people who live further away (and I say that as a west coast resident).

Any prospective student who resides outside of the US will receive an email on April 1st.
Good luck to my fellow internationals! I live in the US so ill be waiting a bit longer.

@Sherruby Sounds like a plan.

@AGoodFloridian it’s a great choice to have!

Just spoke to the admissions office and they told me that the admissions decisions would be released via email this Friday to all students living outside the US.

Oh okay! Thank you guys :slight_smile:

I’ve spoken to a couple of international students who’ve already been accepted through ED. It’s a diverse bunch! One from South America, Eastern Europe, Nepal… where are you two from, if I may ask? @doesitmatter123 and @babbybb . I believe there was another international applicant but I can’t remember his/her username.

Does anyone see the early write thing happening again? I think that’s what it’s called, I read in last year’s thread a batch of students got an email and everyone else got snail mail

No, my daughter was told by her admissions contact that this year there would be no email to student living in the US.

This lack of information for domestic students make creating travel plans for campus visits very difficult and expensive.

Exactly, @LKnomad, I think by Friday a call to admissions is probably in order.

That’s probably what my family will be doing. If I get into Reed with enough aid, I’ll definitely go, but if not I need to go visit UAlabama in mid-April and flights/hotel rooms/etc. are climbing in price.

@doesitmatter123 International here as well, so i couldn’t visit either. But Reed just 'felt" right idk. It is intellectual,academically rigorous, quirky and quite proud of itself.I couldn’t find that sort of atmosphere anywhere else except at Carleton (more laidback and easygoing just not Reed if you know what I mean.) Reed is intense. It just seemed to be the perfect fit for me. And of course Jobs went there (just for a semester I guess but still…) Add to that the language houses, research opps,the gray fund, the student body and portland of course, you get the most interesting place in the world.
But my fav part about Reed is undoubtedly the quirkiness! :stuck_out_tongue:

@AGoodFloridian I’m from Ukraine. I was an exchange student in California and I really miss it!

It’s a big day for international students tomorrow, you get to know your decisions, online, first!

All of us here in the US are cheering for you guys :slight_smile: All the best!

Hey everyone! Have letters officially been mailed out yet?

@AGoodFloridian I’m from India.

@thunderfly a lot of what you’ve stated resonates with me too!

Best of luck everyone! Hopefully, we all get into a place where we can thrive :smiley:

This is from the Reed Admissions Blog on tumblr:

What time will decisions be emailed to internationals on the 1st? (The excitement is really getting to me :P)

We’re glad you’re excited, but we don’t have a specific time set at the moment!

So no specific time to expect emails. But atleast they aren’t making promises they can’t keep like they did last year

No specific time??? Ahhhh the waiting is killing me… Internationals, I totally sympathize with you.
