Has anyone else who applied RD still been receiving emails and pamphlets in the mail? I’ve been getting occasional emails and letters (with one being a huge pamphlet for paideia and the major I marked on the CommonApp), and would like to know if I should think of it as something more than just promotional material.
Ugh just got axed from NYU - hopefully good news from Reed… last decision
Sorry to hear that, @eebee88 . It seems we all have had our fair share of bad news these weeks. Hopefully that changes!
@PunsPunsPuns , a few pages back in the thread we were commenting on that. Most of us, if not all, have received some promotional material from Reed- including the ones you mentioned. That’s all we know so far hahah
does reed only send out rejections through the us postal service? or do they send acceptances that way too?
@RyTheGuy24 I believe acceptances are FedEx.
yikes then i got rejected
@RyTheGuy24 Why what happened?
i called and asked how was decision was being sent and they said through the postal service
Doesn’t mean anything. Last year it was FedEx but they could have switched
Oh that’s even more stressful. I get USPS tracking updates for incoming packages. If I get an acceptance and they’re really sending it all through USPS, I should get automatic updates about a package from Oregon. Envelopes don’t come with tracking, though.
@usualhopeful well they said they aren’t mailing until tomorrow so don’t despair yet
I’m so nervous right now. I woke up dreaming about getting accepted this morning. I was so happy until I realized that it was just a dream
They just posted a picture on tumblr of a stack of Iliads, with the boxes near them.
In recent years they’ve used Fedex- I don’t know why they’d change it this year but it’s not an impossibility. But I don’t understand why you believe you’ve been rejected, @RyTheGuy24 ? You’re OK, we’re in this together
Going by last years emails, we should receive an email in a little less than 24 hours. It’ll be 5pm in Portland when they send the emails
Anyone else starting to get that feeling when you’re slowly reaching the top of a rollercoaster?
Just… A bit more prolonged. Like, days long :-SS
@AGoodFloridian I feel you bro! Hopefully, it’ll be worth the wait :)>-
Don’t think I could wait another week for the results. Thank god they’re coming out for IS todayy
@AGoodFloridian yeah it does feel like that. about to be the worst rollercoaster drop though
Good luck to you all - just to confirm (as the parent of a student accepted ED), the acceptances will come via FedEx, , the rejections/waitlist will come regular USPS. It really doesn’t make sense they would handle ED one way and RD another during the same admissions cycle. But, @RyTheGuy24, I wouldn’t read too much into the response you got. I don’t think an admissions officer would purposefully tip their hand like that - they could have just meant that decisions were being sent by snail mail instead of by email. I’m sure they’re getting asked that 20xday. It would be nice though, if this time they sent the East Coast boxes priority instead of regular fedex - a week was a long time to wait!
@bkreedie thanks for confirming! Did any of y’all sign up for FedEx insight? Tells you if you have incoming packages but idk how accurate/useful it is
I’m like 99% sure that I’ll be rejected (b/c Reed is a REAAAAACH), but I’m praying for the chance I have, statistically speaking, of getting in lol
