@afisher623, you should have received an email from Reed a while back detailing the steps you need to take to check your financial aid status.
@Afisher623, The financial aid is in a separate portal from the application materials portal.
They told me that Internationals won’t receive a package and they’ll I mean us just get an email but still don’t have that either .
I’m from Wisconsin and have yet to hear from Reed. I’m truly disappointed by the admissions office at Reed and frankly feel completely disrespected and unwelcome. I marked my application Early Action, and they filed in mistakenly as Regular Decision, and even though the mistake was on their end and correct on my Common App submission, they refused to change my admission plan. I’ve been waiting since early November and checking the portal every day and it just feels excruciating at this point. Every time I walk up to my house, anything red on my porch causes me a brief flicker of hope that is immediately replaced by utter disappointment. I imagine since I haven’t heard yet, I must not have gotten in.
I’m from the South and I got my acceptance last week on Friday! Maybe it all depends on the mail service or what region you are from, for I am sure there are way less applicants from my location? Probably blurred logic idk
Received my acceptance package today!
Awesome? Are u in SoCal by chance?
!*
Just curious, did anyone who received an acceptance package track theirs through the FedEx website? I’ve been updating the FedEx “delivery tracking” portal for days but nothing has come up… sigh…
@vagueidentity that’s so sad, I feel so sorry for you. After all it really is a trash college. Very disappointed!! Not even worth giving me a rejection letter. Everything will be fine it’s just reed not the end of the world ofc.
They also just sent out an email to accepted students, congrats to those accepted!! But if you didn’t, I faced so much rejection and waitlists and I know it’s terrible, but it all works out in the end, and it’s no indication of you or your ability, sometime it’s just because they have too many males or females or too many people from your state/country.
Are you sure this email went out to ALL accepted students? I’m just trying to preserve my tiny sliver of hope that I’ll get in, but I’ve pretty much accepted the fact that I didn’t. I really wish that the admissions office handled their decisions differently, but oh well, they seem to operate in a way that favors themselves and their own image over their applicants… sorry 4 the rant
I completely understand and agree, and I’m sorry for your experience:(. I can’t know for certain whether it went to all accepted students, but it was titled next step for admitted students, and the first line was "If your good news has not yet arrived in the mail, let me be the first to say congratulations on your admission and welcome to the Class of 2022.’ But they seem to be sketchy on delivering the news, so take it with a grain of salt. If it is your number one choice, there is still the waitlist possibility, and make sure to tell them that it is your first choice and you will definitely go you are accepted. Pro tip, I got deferred from a school I really loved and I wrote them a super creative deferral letter, and I was later accepted, and since Reed is so big on fit and personality, it wouldn’t hurt to enforce your Reediness to them! Best of luck-- sending good vibes your way:)
Hey @collegefan2020 keep your hopes up.
I got my acceptance letter today and the only reason I knew about it was because my mom texted me saying a box came for me. I checked the admissions portal about an hour before that and afterwards too, no updates both times. I didn’t receive any emails either to indicate my status.
One thing that may have been a potential indicator was that I received a nice big Reed College booklet about a day or two before I received the box, but according to their office, it was not indicative of the decision. Take that with a grain of salt I guess (but then again, schools that waitlisted me also sent me multiple nice, thick booklets too, even tho I was early action).
My recommendation to you would be stay positive, have a plan, be ready to accept either outcome, and get off college confidential for a few days. The more I checked CC, the more I thought I wouldn’t get in and the more anxious I became. The best piece of advice I can echo from my college counselor is stay off this website until you hear back.
Best of luck man (or woman), hope to see you on admitted students day!
Are any of you guys attending the RAD this monday??
Thank you both for the kind words of encouragement and advice. I’m still open to receiving good news from Reed, but honestly, I think I’ll be ready to move on if I don’t. Waitlist wouldn’t be ideal, as I would need substantial FA to attend Reed, but I’ll consider writing a letter of continued interest if it happens. And you’re right about staying off of CC haha, I swear this website has only added to the stress of anticipating decisions. Thank you again, and best wishes to both of you! Congrats on your acceptances!
Has anyone not gotten anything? I’ve have no emails, no updated portal or anything in the mail
Still nothing here.
Well I’m just going to mark this one as a rejection. Whatever, screw them. I have full tuition merit to Providence College and a significant amount from Xavier, DePaul, UMD, UMTC, Chatham, Rollins, Earlham and UIC. I have options. Best of luck to everyone else and their next step forward.
So they basically don’t send any information about rejection to not accepted one’s? Is that what happening right now ?
