Don’t joke with the Dean.

I didn’t…

No response yet but i got the odyssey in the mail today…I hope that’s a positive sign

Fingers crossed tightly.

“What does one learn about Odysseus in the first four books of the Odyssey?”

That was the topic of my very first Hum 110 paper (500 words!), due at the end of the first week of class. If I recall correctly, Odysseus doesn’t appear until the fifth book.

That was a magical time for me. First time living away from home (1000 miles), first long train ride, terrific orientation on the Oregon coast, and this wonderful new (for me) literature to interrogate.

Yes, magical.

rescinded.

Oh, DoinSchool, I’m so sorry! Can you take a year, or are you flat out rescinded?

they “want” me to apply next year, but not bad enough to offer me a deferred spot. i have no idea what im doing with my life right now.

“You’ve learned a tough lesson. But you will get through this, and things will get better.”

That mantra got me through some really rough times when I was your age.

I am so very sorry.

Of all the things I would like to say here, none can do justice to your decision and your situation now.

You have my respect and sympathy.

hi guys. I’m feeling a lot better now. I can easily see how this whole event could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
so far, I plan on spending lots of time in the library, doing inner-work, getting in top physical condition, volunteer work, and perhaps taking some community college classes.

Then I will see how much I like teaching myself, and whether I want to go to college. most likely, I will show reed that I have got my life in order and reapply.

<3

DoinSchool: I’m sorry to hear the news, but I remain impressed with the maturity you continue to demonstrate. Frankly, I think it’s Reed’s loss. I’m optimistic about your chances for next year, especially if you follow through on the plans you mentioned in your most recent post. Good luck!

do you know of this place? I am assuming you are male and bet you have a shot.
I was debating if I should tell you 'cause this is my kid’s dream school and I am adding competition here if you are happened to be that kind of kid.
build the body, stay healthy anyway.

bears - I had heard about the school before. It looks interesting. I would be hesitant about waking up that early though. i need my sleep

update: went to court today. the indecent exposure got dropped. If i get through a 12 month supervised probation and attend drug counseling classes the other one will be dismissed. so far I’ve been pretty lucky! my lawyer says they probably won’t charge me for the house search but will leave it hanging over my head so I don’t mess up on probation, so I hope that turns out to be correct.

Does anyone think that given this development Reed might be persuaded to rescind their rescission?? Should I bother informing them or just wait to reapply ED?

Yes, absolutely update them. Also, can you fulfill the terms of your probation while you attend Reed? That will be important for them to know. I can’t help but feel that their decision was based on the pressure they are under to show less tolerance for drug use. But it is a small college and they are still human. I think this positive outcome in court combined with your contrition might cause them to reconsider.

I was surprised they rescinded your acceptance, I didn’t think they would.
