Reed vs. UCLA (Transfer)

The situation is fairly simple, actually (...well, maybe not): I'm transferring from a community college in California. Reed is perfect, but it will cost more per year, and I will probably have to spend three years there, as opposed to two at UCLA.

So, the question is: How does one decide if the cost is worth it? And what about the time? Right now it doesn't seem like a big deal to spend an extra year in college, probably because I love learning and going to school so much, but I'm afraid that I'll start to regret it after I've spent two years there. Oh, and I'm switching my major during the transition anyway, so there isn't the issue of me being bored having to take the same classes over again.

Anyway, I'm sure I could find a way to be happy at UCLA, but it just doesn't seem right for me. Thanks in advance for your thoughts--I don't really have anyone else to talk with about this.

P.S. Sorry if I'm not posting this in the right section; I thought I'd get better results here than in the Transfer Students section.

Can you afford to spend an extra year at Reed?

Oh yes, I forgot to mention: I can’t “afford” either of them. I’ll be taking out loans. A lot of loans.

What do you define as “a lot of loans”? Also, that means that because Reed’s offer is unaffordable, you can’t go there, especially because you’d need to spend an extra year at the school.

What the change in major to? What’s the price difference of the two? Why can’t you do Reed in 2.5 years?
