Refundable deposit?

Hello all! I am a senior looking at attending Mercer this Fall! I am a little confused about the commitment deposit, though. My admissions letter says it is “fully refundable until May 1st”, but submitting it early will help hold a spot in the class and give priority housing selection. So you can see why I want to send it in, but I am also still waiting to hear from a few schools and for my financial package from Mercer. So does “fully refundable” mean I can pay it, select my housing and still change my mind later and withdraw when committing somewhere else? Thanks!

I’m confused; how “fully refundable until 1 May” can mean anything other than “fully refundable until 1 May?”

I would think it means what it sounds like. If you have any nagging doubts, I’m sure a quick email to the school’s admissions office will clear any ambiguities.

Yes. Don’t overthink the obvious.

If there are two separate deposits, one for committing to this school and a 2nd one when you select housing, it sounds like you’ll get the first back. But getting the commitment deposit back doesn’t mean the housing deposit is also 100% refundable. You’ll have to check the school website for their policies to see how they handle that.
