Is it really necessary to have more than one example? Is it possible to get 10+ by just using one example? Also, I've heard that personal examples are somewhat frowned upon? Is it possible to get a good score by just using one good personal example?

In my opinion, it is not really necessary to have multiple examples as long as you can fill out two pages with a superb single example. As long as you have a well structured and sophisticated essay, you could pull off a 12 with just one example.

Usually, people find it easier to use two or three examples.

Personal examples are also fine. Again, if that one personal example is well-written and organized, you should do well.

Read the first essay example from the blue book. If you don't have it, it's based on a single personal example and scored a 6.
