If you already did a regional music audition and it went well…but are having second thoughts and considering do an in-person audition at the same music school…can you do it? There is time to schedule a live in-person but I am not sure if it is worthwhile? Any one with insights?
Call the school. Several years back D did a regional that went really well. I know that because two panelists came out afterward asking me all sorts of questions and they flat out said that it went really well. It was not till later that we discovered that they screwed up the recording. They asked that she record the same music and send it so that the voice department could review. Instead we offered to fly her cross country and audition there. It gave D a chance to visit with teachers and have a sample lesson as well. She got in, got a scholarship, but did not attend. (She had changed her mind after the visit.)
Are you having second thoughts about the school or how well your audition went? If about the school you can always visit if accepted.
If it’s about your audition I’m not sure they would give a second chance (without an issue such as the above) or if it would be worth it. If you presented yourself and your talent honestly and to the best of your ability, you are fine. Is there a reason that an audition would be “notably” different? If not, you don’t want to waste the panel’s time over nerves.
This process is full of anxiety. Your audition didn’t need to be perfect. You simply needed to show them who you are and where you are at. You probably did just fine.
Thank you @musicamusica, @bridgenail. Both your comments are very helpful. Actually, I felt very good with my audition. The dean of admissions who recorded the regional was positive in her reaction and comments. I know that does not mean anything. I am finished with all my auditions (1 regional and 7 on-site) and I guess I am anxious because my part is finished now. I have no more control on the situation and the long wait starts.
Waiting is the hardest part! It’s a good time to get involved in an activity at school or in the community to help you take your mind off the wait. Get busy and it will make the wait easier. Congrats on finishing your auditions!
