I'm an incoming freshman just searching random classes on UT's registration pages. If the class says "closed" does that mean the class is full? Or are they possibly waiting for to open it up for when freshman come to orientation to register? I'm just curious if I should start rethinking which classes I want to take in the fall.

Many freshman classes are “closed” and during each registration period, a certain number of seats become available. You should definitely have a plan B (and C & D!).

Okay thanks! I noticed like all of the entry level Biology classes say closed and I’m really hoping they will open up for registration…

utgirl, there were quite a few classes “closed” before my daughter attended orientation and registered. They really do open additional spaces for many of the classes (Biology was one of them!) for each new orientation group that comes in to register. The other time that spaces opened up was the date that tuition was due. Students who don’t pay by a certain date are dropped from the classes. Daughter was able to get in a couple of classes that way.

O okay thanks so much! I’m relieved to hear that.

seems like we can only sit it out and wait. btw registration is open at 19th aug right?

Wait, are there any classes that are open at this point? I thought you could only register for classes when you were at your orientation… And I’m going to fall orientation so I guess I get the worst classes :(

Well the sophomores, juniors, and seniors had to register so yes there are classes that are open right now, but incoming freshman can’t start registering until their orientation.
