Its summer before my senior year. Im going to take AP Physics C in my senior year. Ive been doing some prep work on khan academy and a book for ap physics c topics to get a step ahead of the rest in my class but I dont understand anything at all. Physics honors was easy. I understood newtons laws and forces and electrostatics and all that but the material for ap physics c just confuses me. Should i still go through and take ap physics c? Im thinking that I might not be successful in the class. Ive also never taken calculus but will be taking calc bc concurrently with physics c. BTW we do have a great physics teachers at my school.
Then I’m sure you’ll be fine. Some anxiety is normal, and this class is definitely not easy. However, thousands of students every year survive, and you will too.
Neither have the vast majority of students. Almost all will be taking calculus concurrently. And the level of calculus used is really not that difficult.
im just worried though. ive seen some khan academy videos on ap phsyics topics and dont understand at all. I dont under stand the right hand rule or torque or magneticism or circuits or anything like that. i also looked at a practice ap physics c test and was very confused.
The spelling hurts my eyes.
I would suggest actually taking the class. Check your school’s drop date and if you are still confused, drop the class.
What’s wrong with my spelling? I dont see many errors. I got a 35 on ACT English BTW and have a verbal IQ of 140. I was just in a hurry when I wrote the previous posts
I’m taking AP Physics C this year, too, and took Honors Physics last year. You took Honors Physics but never took “the right hand rule or torque or magneticism or circuits or anything like that”? tf
Sorry, I was being semi-sarcastic. I’m a bit of a grammar Nazi though.
Since when is torque, magnetism, circuits, or the right hand rule ever taught in physics honors? Are you even from the US?
Torque and the RHR were DEFINITELY taught in my honors physics class. We did some electricity and magnetism too. It’s probably fairly common.
Read my post again. I never said we didnt learn “electricity and magnetism” in phys h. And I guess my schools i very different from yours. Did you go to school in USA?
Yes, I’m American.
@mansoor757 I live on the east coast of America.
Also, you say “I never said we didnt learn ‘electricity and magnetism’ in phys h” but you asked me “when is torque, magnetism, circuits, or the right hand rule ever taught in physics honors?” So, that implies that you never learned magnetism, circuits, RHR, etc. in your Honors Physics class.
Sorry, you are right. That was a mistake on my part. I got a little confused. We learned basic electricity stuff (electric field, electric force, EPE) but we never learned about circuits or resistors or stuff like that. We never learned magnetics either. For our first semester, we only worked on kinematics mostly and the second sem we learned about newtons forces, f=ma, electricity stuff, and lightning, and also energy
@mansoor757 Oh ok.
And if your physics teacher is good then I think you should go through with the class.
If you plant to major in some sort of science or engineering major then stick with AP Physics C - you’ll have to learn the subject anyway, might as well struggle with it now then later.
