Regular Decision 2021

WF Admissions tweeted saying admissions decisions would be released on April first via email.

@AnArcticMonkey BY april first not on and the email is only for internationals

right

Okay can someone just confirm the way in which we will receive the decision? email? by mail? portal (is there even a portal)?

@cccrsn You’ll get a decision via mail. There’s no portal for Wake ):

A big, black envelope is what you want to see! Maybe the end of next week if they mailed on the 23rd last yr, that would time to arrive on friday for the east coast. Most schools release email decisions on a friday & time mail to arrive on a friday…so makes sense.

So does that mean that although I received shipment information from DHL Express (which delivers in a day or two?), they will not reach me before next week?

@AnArcticMonkey It is I think on a rolling basis when you get it, so you might get it a day from now or whenever.

@AnArcticMonkey In past years I believe International students hear before domestic students. I have a feeling you will know something very soon.

@Andrew1996 The tracking system has been consistent with this: Shipment not yet picked up by DHL.

I hope this is helpful. I am attaching Wake’s admissions note FROM LAST YEAR. It states that applicants with an US address will get their decision via USPS (snail mail - yes you have to wait for the mail person to deliver the mail). Applicants residing outside the US will receive an email (my understanding from last year the email was a notice that Wake had sent you something via DHL).

What does this mean to you: well applicants living outside the US may get their decisions first if DHL moves fast. Applicants living in the US will be waiting by their mail boxes and those living closer to Winston- Salem will get their decision first.

Also note: do not call Wake’s admissions trying to get your decision they do not give out that info on the telephone. They ask to call them on or after April 1 if you do not have your envelope. Wake will verify your info and resend the decision (that is correct - you will still be waiting for the second mailing.)

Good luck to everyone and I hope you get a big black envelope (acceptances are mailed in big black envelopes). Go Deacs!

thanks @WFUparent
Would you know about the social aspect at wake? I don’t know anybody who has attended the school. But I’ve heard there is a subtle division between racial and socio-economic classes within the university. I would love attend WFU, but if this is true, it might be a deterrent to my final decision.

@AnArcticMonkey, my daughter is finishing up her first year at Wake. She loves it an she has not said anything about racial or socio-economic division. Her group of friends includes many different races and socio-economic classes. With that said I would ask other students to weigh in to help you. I am not on campus on a daily basis and my daughter 's experience is a very small “sample size” for you to base your decision. If you are accepted, I encourage you to try and attend one of the accepted students days (April 7 or 21). I hope you get a black envelope (acceptance) and you get answers that help you.

Does anyone know when decisions are coming out?

@AnArticMonkey, there is a link to NYT article https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/01/18/upshot/some-colleges-have-more-students-from-the-top-1-percent-than-the-bottom-60.html?_r=0 that shows Wake as a college of the 1%. (maybe the price could let you know? is my thought!) However, when we went there for a visit I have never met nicer people.

i really want to hear this week :frowning:

@Tothelimit thank you so much!

International students who got the DHL email: Have they shipped your envelopes yet?

@hopefulwfu44, please read my post in this thread(#90) to help give you some insight on Wake’s time line. Hang in there and stay positive. This much I can tell you: the envelopes have not left Wake Forest’s admissions office. Stay tune. I will try and tell everyone when the envelopes start heading to all the applicant’s mailboxes. Good luck to everyone. I hope you get a big black envelope (acceptance) in the mail. Go DEACS!

@WFUparent Thanks so much for your nice words. You’re great! I was deferred ED so it’s been a very long wait for me, since I had submitted my app way back in September. Expecting the worst, but praying for the best.
