got my letter in the mail today! accepted to the chemistry major- 3.4UW, 2010 SAT, in state
I also applied to Nursing on 11/17, and no mail decision has been sent to me nor any changes have been made to my application status on PAWS…
Since the admitted students day is April 1st, if one has not received the decision yet,
it could mean only one thing Or really bad planning on their side
Does anyone know if i can still do the tcnj raise.me and possibly increase my aid award?
@Bu-ra-ti-no So, they’ve sent me a Wait List letter in the mail. I’m just not sure now if I want to stay on it because I will not be able to receive merit scholarship at this time according to the letter. Especially for Nursing, I’m afraid no seat will open up.
Lol one seat might open up. I’m declining my acceptance today.
@btstaehyung123 o pls. Any reason as to why? lol
- Literally an all-white school. I don’t think I’ll fit in (I’m Asian).
- Its science department is way too small imo. They don’t really have the major I want anyways.
- No one really heard of TCNJ, which might be hard when finding a job.
- It’s near Trenton, so naw. That’s like Newark, super dangerous.
I’m deciding between Rutgers, Stevens, and Northeastern right now. Don’t get me wrong, TCNJ is a really nice campus. It’s really beautiful, especially Paul Loser Hall. Btw, it’s not pronounced “lu-ser”! They are also really generous with merit scholarships; they gave me $20k (5k/year). So it was the cheapest deal, but I really felt out of place when I visited (main reason). Btw, I did decline like 10 mins ago. Good luck to you tho.
Just to offer a slightly different perspective on the above 1 and 4, I’m biracial and currently live in a very suburban area. There are prob less than 5 non-white kids in my graduating class, so to me it seemed like my current location. I can see how it would be weird for people who see a large number of people of different races. I’ve been places where I’ve gotten a weird feeling but personally didn’t get that vibe when there.
My mom is black and overall lack of diversity, race-wise, economically and personality-wise, is the biggest downside to TCNJ as far as she’s concerned, but she made a point of saying that she saw more minorities (in student body and staff) than she expected to see on Saturday at Accepted Students Day, cause she was looking. Although obv not everyone accepted will go there.
The school itself is in a suburban location that I saw. I don’t plan to ever go into Trenton for any reason, which I agree is dangerous and tbh that’s why I’m really not interested in Drexel and Temple (the neighborhoods they’re in) but nothing about it felt like Trenton to me. Granted, we only drove to the school and didn’t explore Ewing at all. That could be a problem if I wanted to get an apt off campus, but some of the communities away from Trenton might be ok.
Good luck wherever you go btsaehyung123!
Lol, Rutgers is in the heart of New Brunswick. More dangerous than the neighborhood around TCNJ.
