Regular Decision Chicago Applicants!!!

I'm applying RD too. I'm also too lazy to post stats.

thats lame. post your stuff man!

I applied RD.

GPA/SATs/Numbers: Same as everyone else.
ECs: Same commitment and some state awards.
Essay: PM me if you're curious.
Recs: I know my counselor very well and she had only good things, anecdotes, and superlatives to share. Likewise for my teachers. They wrote that I am creative, self-motivated, and that I genuinely enjoy learning.

^^^totally lame

same as everyone else? that doesnt even make sense!

Hahaha. Oh no I can't edit it now! :(

2100+'s and 3.8+'s = Same as everyone else here.

My ECs are nothing outstanding - fairly typical for CC high school overachievery types which I am familiar with loosely. I just wanted to shine light on the subjective material.

my SAT's are not 2100+

Take that typical Chicago profilering.

^^^

my point exactly

and also, for all the 'top universities', chicago is the one where sats are probably most irrelevent

Well I don't want to post mine for that reason hence my offering to show you an essay.

So here was my pattern of thinking:
1. My stats are fine.
2. Essays are more important to Chicago than the others.
3. Who cares?
4. "Same as everyone else."

I can pinpoint the flaw in my thinking.

I used the numbers as a sweeping generalization. Of course there are exceptions to the mid-50% whatever SAT statistics - I only wanted to show that the numbers were unimportant in my case.

However, I was unclear and took even more time had I just listed my numbers. (Hello MBTI: Perceiving --> Judgment!)

So now that we have stabbed and made fun of my post (^^^totally lame) and derived some sort of satisfaction, I can only say that I am glad that we understand each other.

Now, where else is there confusion or what else would you like to know?

nom de plume

Well, you sound like a Chicago student, anyway. At this point in time, your statistics could be of some value to juniors that are trying to come up with a list for next year... and more so once the results come in. However, pointing out the importance of the essays is even more valuable - its easy to focus on the numbers (that are scanned in a minute or less) and not pay sufficient attention to the rest of the application.
