Regular Decision Class of 2021!

it is the end of the month and I still havent recieved my letter in the mal or an email yet. how do I check to see if i got in or not?

@missinger1 - you should have received instructions on accessing the portal. If not, you should call them. At this point don’t be shy about calling and requesting that they look up your status. This is assuming your are regular decision. I think some transfer decisions are still pending.

Not to be a downer, but I would just like to give my anecdotal on University of San Francisco before any of you SIR there. I attended three semesters at usf before I withdrew and attended CCSF. Now I’m waiting to hear on my decision from UC’s.

For me, the campus was beautiful, in a great location and so close to financial district, haight street, golden gate park, the beach. I love the city! I met my best friend at usf whom I live off campus with now and 4 other housemates in the sunset district, in a nice house.

However, I found many things wrong with the place:

  1. The amount of core classes the school makes you take is arbitrary and is meant to make money off of you.
  2. The school has no community and can be hard at times to make friends or feel together with people.
  3. People can be very cliquey/superficial
  4. The campus is small and feels lifeless at times
  5. It's $60k a year
  6. Sometimes it felt like the school kids attended because they did not get into the UC's they wanted
  7. Private institution credit is very inflexible and doesn't transfer over well compared to public institution credit, in case you do decide you want to transfer schools mid way into your college career.
  8. Even with the $20k scholarship, it is still incredibly expensive

It’s not worth it to take out $240k in loans for four years, if you are attending via loans! I love SF but the school was subpar for the price I was paying out of pocket ($60k). Additionally, my friend, who I met at usf, as well left usf because he didn’t end up liking it, attended a CC, and now is at University of Washington. Again, this is just my experience, yours could be much better and I hope it is!

No college is perfect for everyone. I know several students who have transferred in to USF and are so much happier with the class sizes, better staff support, etc. I also know students who started at USF, transferred out, realized they’d made a mistake and came back! Every student follows a different path.

And even if it were possible to take out $240K in loans for an undergrad degree, which it’s not, no school would be worth going into that kind of debt.

Excuse me, $240k in fafsa, not loans.
