Regular foreign language classes

While I do have 2 foreign is language credits already in spanish but i'm contemplating on taking French I and II online at FLVS for extra things to put on my transcript but theres no honors classes available just regular courses. Would a regular course (that Id get an A in) would drop my weighted GPA and would the colleges in Florida would look down on a regular extra language course since they recalculate GPA adding points to Honors and AP classes?

Do you need more credits of foreign language to graduate? Most colleges like to see three or four years of the same language. Can you take another Spanish class instead? That’s more concerning than how low your GPA would drop with non honors classes.

No I have all my foreign language credits already.(2)

I took spanish I and II 8th and 9th grade which is problematic because I’m going into 12th grade next year so I forgot almost the entire language, plus I hated spanish for some reason but french seems interesting which is why I want to take it.

Why wouldn’t another 2 years of another foreign language look good? Wouldn’t it show that I still went above and beyond in foreign language as id have double the amount needed?

No, because it’s not of the same foreign language. You won’t really know French nor Spanish. Depth over breadth. What schools are you looking at?

Selective colleges recommend taking three or four years of the same foreign language. It doesn’t matter if your high school requires less than that. (Mine didn’t require any foreign language at all.)
Taking French wouldn’t look *bad/i, but it would be better to take more Spanish.

If you’re worried about not knowing Spanish as well as you did at the end of middle school, it might help to review some of the material in the summer before taking Spanish 3 honors. I couldn’t take Spanish last year because it didn’t fit in my schedule, so I get that you would be iffy about taking another class in it.

USF, UF, UNF, etc basically any of the florida public state schools - you think they’d care about 2 years of French and Spanish instead of 3 years in just Spanish? The biggest reason i’m hoping to take French instead of extra Spanish years is just im doubtful id be able to get an A grade in III as my teachers were both awful (one left at the beginning of the year so we had subs for like 5 months) I didn’t learn much except to pass the class which by itself isn’t bad but the gap between the spanish II and III is ~2 years which is a long time where I haven’t spoken spanish once.

:frowning: Boo, doubt ill be able to get 3 years of french by the time I apply for college (this fall), maybe ill take French I and II while reviewing some stuff for Spanish III to take later in the year

yeah you understand my Iffyness its been so long I’m very doubtful id be able to get an A in the class as I forgot practically all of the material since its been ~2 years.
where do you think id be able to review spanish I and II material online?

One place that you’d be able to find basic review material is Quizlet. A lot of students and teachers make online flashcards for their classes and chapters. Even if you Google “Spanish 1 Review,” a lot of Quizlet links will show up. If you’re not sure about that, you could probably try to use websites that give Spanish Grammar basics. One that I just found was SpanishDict, but I’m sure that there are plenty of others like it.
