Foreign Language

Hey!

I have a question regarding foreign language classes (with UC's specifically in mind).

I took French for the 3 years of middle school (French 1 was divided into two years) and started out in French 3 Honors in my freshman year. I then took French 4 AP my sophomore year. I took Spanish 1 junior year and this year I'm taking Spanish 2.

Although my middle school french classes aren't on my high school transcript, do they still count toward my language credit? I did complete the 2 years requirement of foreign language; however, I took on another language because I was interested in learning another and I wanted to show colleges that I wasn't just trying to cop out too early.

Does the fact that I took the highest level in one language and then started another look good? Or should I just have stopped after one?

Thanks!

Middle school language classes will likely not count towards high school credit, but ask your high school just in case.
Languages always look good on transcripts. At least 2 years are required for state school entrance–taking the highest level of French and starting another language will definitely help.

I’ll be finished with the highest level of French as a Junior because my school doesn’t have AP French. I will take AP french online or in a local college in my senior year - at least that is the plan now.

I have a similar plan with nomatterwhat. I wish my HS offers AP French though.
