Baseball, I share your pain. We love our kids and this is just awful! I just try to remember that self-esteem is critical for an adolescent.

Pan, do you happen to know if Andover called all alumni parents of applicants? My mom is an Andover alumna and, as far as I know, she hasn’t gotten any calls about my application…

Tom, the story about the call I got is a little more complicated than appears. No, not all legacy parents get calls if they have a child who is rejected. I got a call because of certain circumstances. I think you still have a great shot at A and I wish you the best.

Tom, I’m so sorry! You’re so smart and you probably deserved an acceptance more than a few of us! DEFINITELY more than jasmyn! (Urgh. How’d we hear that she got accepted, anyway? Has she psoted, like, at all?)

Well yes…lol. We didnt just guess, she got accepted and posted it here. I don’t think we should put down anyone. We barely know each other…I mean sure a few conversations of FB and CC here and there. But you can’t say jasmyn didn’t deserve it, you don’t really know her. I believe Tom will get into Andover and all will be good.

^^ mpicz, I totally agree (with the put-down/deserving part).

Well, I’m still sticking to my guns and saying one of you has to officially identify Jasmyn when you go to Exeter! :D

Now al I need is to get into Andover!!!

I was waitlisted at sps and rejected from exeter too.

Tom,

Don’t worry about not getting in to these schools. I have been reading your posts, and you have what it takes. Your communication skills, organization skills, and empathy all mark you as a first class student and person. If Andover, or any of the others can’t recognize that, it will be their loss.

You can always apply again. I had to apply several times to some schools in my life, and it paid off. We tend to see these “rejections” as personal and judgmental, but they are more random than that. I am sure your mother, being an alum, can tell you lots of stories.

I am waiting on word for my son, and destressing by reading your posts, and those on the other boards. It’s a tough day, and a great day for many.

TomtheCat is number 1 in my book.

pa.pa

Thanks so much! I really, really appreciate what you said in your post, pa.pa. I hope that Andover feels the same way, but if not, I’ll definitely come to terms with the fact that it’s not the end of the world. Good luck to your son as well!

And mpicz, I don’t think I’ve congratulated you on your acceptance into SPS! That’s really awesome and you’re probably incredibly excited. On a selfish level, though, I hope you and I both get into Andover and have the opportunity to talk person-to-person.

And mmoynan, good luck as well! I’ll be thinking good thoughts for you.

I completely second pa.pa.

Anddd, thank you! I will definitely let everyone know. Hopefully it’ll be good. If not, I will be pursuing that waitlist spot like nobody’s business!

HOW DOES EVERYONE KNOW THEY’RE STATUS AT EXETER!?!?!??! I haven’t heard anything??!?!?! I’ve been checking lionlinks consistently since 9 (EST) and haven’t found ANYTHING!

They should have sent you an email.

Check your email.
It was in my junk folder. It’s a letter, and does not involve LionLinks.

As far as I know it is not on Lionlinks. We were sent an email that ended up in the junk mail folder. Check your email folders!

Not accepted at Exeter. I think it was because of full financial aid. In a couple of hours I’ll either be emo or plotting revenge. Just kidding! Hope I get in at Andover! Fingers-crossed! Be optomistic you guys!

They e-mail not on lion links. They sent mine at 6 in the morning. A rejection. They must hate me that much to give it to me so early!

Thank you Tom. Now that I have nothing to worry about other than FA I’m worried about you lol. You deserve to go to one of these schools.
