Rejection

Just got rejected via ED

I had all A's and A+'s, ranked 3rd in my class of 100. SAT Math and Crit Reading 1360

Thought I wrote a killer essay, had my application in on time, had an amazing resume, etc. etc.

My SAT's weren't very high but I didn't figure it would affect me that much.

I'm trying to cope with the fact that I'm completely rejected from my dream school, with no hope through deferral.

Any advice as to what I can improve on?

You aren’t the only one. Cornell was my cousin’s dream school, but she was rejected ED, too, unfortunately. The only thing I can suggest doing is wait a year, make stellar grades at whichever college you end up choosing, and then reapplying as a transfer student, if you know you want to be at Cornell and nowhere else. Cornell tends to have a higher-than average acceptance rate for transfers because it has enough spots for around 3500 graduates per class, but only enough room for 3100ish freshman on North Campus (where all freshmen are housed).

Thanks for the info but I think I’m going to move on to other colleges I had in backup, and stick with them. As much as I liked Cornell, I can get a great education for less at such schools as TCNJ, Drew, or UVM, which are options that I can easily get in to (and get scholarships as well!)

Initially I was depressed and disappointed, but I’ve decided that Cornell just simply wasn’t for me, and it’s time to put it behind me and move forward.

I just wish I didn’t go ED, because now I’m kind of rushing to send these applications out!
