Rejections after SIRing to Cal Poly?

I applied to one school (Cal Poly SLO) early decision and was accepted. This acceptance was on December 5th. I accepted their offer to enroll a few days after.

I also applied to my local CSU safe school and was accepted. This acceptance was in late November.

My three other applications were SDSU, UC Irvine, and UC Santa Barbara. I was denied to these three consecutively, from February to March.

What I wonder is: Do other universities get word that you already chose to enroll somewhere?
What were the chances of getting into Cal Poly SLO, but not SDSU? One of my friends applied to SDSU under computer engin. and got in with a good .2 lower GPA than mine and lower test scores.
UCI and UCSB are considered to be at the same level as CP SLO, no?

Just curious. In the end, I got into my first choice! ;)

Early decision is binding. Once you are accepted to an ED school, you are supposed to withdraw your other applications.

jakd59, not all EDs are binding. CP is not.
