Rejections: Class of 2007

My son received his rejection from Otterbein today. So much easier once you have some acceptances. We remain thrilled about U Buffalo and Point Park. Montclair State this weekend.

Hey you guys..im sorry to hear about all the rejections :(...its not fun :(. I dont know if its because of the medication im on from the surgery, but my worries have completly caught up with me..i need somewhere to go next year and if i dont get in anywhere...i dont know what to do...
i dont know if i should bother to ask this because it is already too late....way to late...but does anybody know of any good non-audition schools? ahh..i hate thinking baout the 'what if' but right now its all thats on my mind...:(

kaylagurl, I think there are lots of options for you but dont despair! Lots of us have not heard from many of the schools yet. In any event, here is a helpful link which lists schools with rolling admissions.

Good luck with everything-it will work out !

Kayla, this is Nick from KY's mom. Sweetie, don't despair. It really is still early for some of the schools. I know the waiting is torture for you, but it won't be much longer and I just know there's going to be some good news for you yet.

kaylagurl- im sure everything will work out. I hope you feel better and have a speedy recovery!

Don't worry kaylagurl! I'm sure something will pop up unexpectedly in your future, you never know!

MY d got rejected by Otterbein Wednesday. She has no BFA acceptances and only one more college to hear from.:( It looks like she will be going the BA route. Has anyone heard from Indiana recently?

Mr. Pinney said April 1 for the last group at Indiana.

thank you you guys! :-)..and yes I am resting..im sorry to hear about your d's rejection katiekat...
the biggest thing that bothers me about these schools, is that most rejections/acceptances are sent out by letters..so when everybody gets their decision...i have to wait a whole 2/3 weeks afterwards just for it to get to Barbados..lol..not fun..very painstaking....

My daughter received her rejection letter from Otterbein yesterday, which she knew was a long shot anyway since they take so few kids. But, I want to thank Dr. John and his department for making the whole process a little less stressful by sending out the "consideration" letters and letting us know exactly when to expect the acceptance/rejection letters. My daughter auditioned at one school in November and we have received nothing at all from them, NOTHING, (and they have rolling admissions). Every other school she applied to has sent some kind of correspondence, even if its newsletters, information on online chats, info on visitation days, or info on financial aide. Thanks again Dr. John, and congrats on those that were accepted to your department.

kaylagurl - Given the unique challenges of mail to you, if you have email addresses for the schools you are waiting to hear from, I do not think it would be out of line to drop them an email, saying that because of delayed time in getting mail to Barbados, you would appreciate receiving the news - good or bad - in an email after the letter has been sent. They may or may not choose to respond to it, but I'd say it was worth a try.

AlisMom - If you have had absolutely no contact from a school with rolling admissions since November, I would be concerned that either mail had been lost, or there might have been a problem with something missing from her application submission. I think a nice, brief letter saying that with rolling admissions, you had expected to hear something by now, and asking if there is some missing component would be in order.

Completely concur with MusThCC's advice in both instances. Thank you MusThCC!

rejected from hartt (the progrma, but not the school)...but that was my absolute worst audition, so I was for sure expecting it.

There are others that my daughter knows that have not heard from this school either. One a friend that also auditioned in November. The school has a website to check your status. It still shows they need my daughter's "audition" although information sent to them since that time has been updated. When my daughter called last month and told them that it was still showing that she needed to audition, she was told they knew she auditioned and once a decision was made they would move the "audition" over to the "received" column.

DramaLady -- did you get a letter already?? Hartt is so confusing!

My son was rejected but I'm so proud of him for making the first cut, and he's got offers coming in. He said he wasn't expecting to make Otterbein, he seems really OK. These kids just amaze me, how resilient they are. Let's all keep our chins up.

Sporti...I just wanna give you a {{{hug}}} at this anxious time. The notifications and variations and in some cases, lack of any consistancy or information is nervewracking. I give you lots of credit for going through this process for a third time and I am crossing my fingers that things go the way you hope. And I hope you hear ASAP from Hartt.

Rejected from Ithaca, but that's okay. I saw it coming so it was no big surprise.

I was rejected from Otterbein for MT, but accepted as a vocal performance/music major w/ a large scholarship, but I will have to turn it down. Because I already spent a year as a vocal performance major and that's not what I want to do. But it's a nice compliment. :)

broadwaybelle, was the rejection and acceptance in the same letter?....curious
