Rejections...

Peddie sent out their letter through email. It was an easy let down and it was my last choice, but I'm stressed that since it wasn't as hard as the other three schools, the other schools will scoff at my application. I can't deal with rejection in the first place, even if it is my last choice!

A word to the wise, some “less selective” schools will actually reject applicants that they know are applying to bigger name schools in order to keep a higher yield rate. It’s possible that Peddie thought you would definitely choose Exeter/Andover/ect over them so they rejeced you.

Wow, that is actually very comforting. Thanks! I also applied to Taft, Choate and Nobles so keeping my fingers crossed! I’m also a theatre kid (as my name says) and Choate has killer arts. Hoping for the best!

Definitely. Take a peek at last year’s acceptance letters. Some very strong applicants were accepted into Deerfield, Exeter, Andover, Hotchkiss, Groton, SPS, but then denied of Portsmouth Abbey, Governor’s, Loomis Chaffee.

Man, I’m not going to sleep a wink tonight! LOL!

It’s like trying to fall asleep on Christmas eve, but your future isn’t dependent on one Christmas…

Actually as a family tradition, we open presents on Christmas Eve and then on Christmas morning do things we would do on Christmas Eve. You would think that would make me restless on Christmas Eve’s Eve, but it’s actually quite peaceful. There’s something about knowing before everyone else knows. Not simply knowing earlier.

That was a pointless paragraph. Sorry I’m doing my psychology homework and I just think it’s really interesting that people are happier if they’re doing better than everyone else.
For example-
Would you rather make 100 dollars while everyone else is making 100 dollars or 100 dollars while everyone else was making 75 dollars? The latter would make you happier.

It could also place a lot of stress on you to consistently preform better than others.

@GoldenRatio Assuming all other variables stable. There’s a fancy word for that but I don’t remember what it was

Fancy word for what?

Fancy word for “assuming all other variables are stable”

/facepalm

Oh.
