Rejoicing!

SparkleSon and SparkleDad visited Olin today and both were very impressed!
S: I'm so glad you put Olin on the list!
D: The students call their professors by their first name
S: Everyone was so nice, and they all seem like kids I would want to be close friends with, and a lot of them do glowsticking, but with real fire.
D: And the students call the professors by their first names!
S: And the campus is small, but really beautiful
D: Each professor is as wonderful as X (S's favorite Math teacher, who brought out his Math talent)
S: I love it there, it doesn't seem so small when every kids is so cool, and into so many interests.
D: I thought it would be really restrictive, but it just isn't.

I've been trying not to telegraph how good a fit I think Olin would be for my S for over a year now. What a relief to be able to sigh and celebrate, at least for another 24 hours, before I go back to reality - the first hurtle is accomplished!
Yippee!

That’s great news, PS. We visited Olin early in the game (while vacationing with family on Cape Cod). DS was not all that impressed. But he LOVES Olin now. Someday he may even say “thank you” to his mom that did such good research ;)

PS I am glad reality was as great as what you imagined. For some, the glove is a perfect fit. Enjoy the next 12 months with your son. You will be amazed at how much you learn about him as you read his essays and you go thru the process. Have him apply to every scholarship out there. You never know. My son was very successful in this regard, but it took a lot of time and hard work. Feel free to PM me with any questions, Olin or not.

PS- Glad to hear you son liked Olin. It was about a year ago when my son took his first visit to Olin and put it at the top of his list and throughout this entire process it stayed there.

Colorado_mom: It was just this year as my son turned to his final months as a senior that he thanked us for the high school he attends…perhaps he will say it earlier to us with Olin

Colorado mom’s son may not have said the words THANK YOU to his fantastic mom, but his amazing smile and glow when we see him at Olin speak way louder than any words.

Ah… thanks FlMathMom ;)
