Is it awkward at ND if you aren't religious. I've read that 93% ofthe campus is Christian. I'm a agnostic/atheist. Would it be eerie for me at ND. What religious things are mandatory? Is mass mandatory?

They actually knock on your door and drag you to Mass.
I love these threads and the perceptions although I guess I can understand the concern, slightly.
You will be required to take two Theology courses and your perspective should be respected in an academic setting.
Having said all this, a majority of students will be going to Mass Sunday nights. You might want to tag along once or twice and see what it’s all about. Or not, no one will really care.

There’s a pretty major religious presence. You can ignore it if you like, but I don’t think it makes much sense to go to Notre Dame if you’re going to do that. You’ll miss out on some of the experience, but if you only get into Notre Dame and no other similar academic caliber schools, it’d probably be fine.

As for how you’ll feel? That’s pretty dependent upon the individual. If you’re applying, I’ll assume you have no issue with Catholicism, besides not believing in it. I know several non-Catholics and a few non-religious people, and they’re fine with it, though may feel left out. Notre Dame has a lot to offer besides religion, but you will still notice it.
