Notre Dame as a catholic school

Notre Dame-a catholic school, but what if you are not catholic?

I am interested in Notre Dame becuase I think it is great acdemically. My biggest concern is that would it be weird for me becuae I am not catholic--atheist actually, but I am not hard core or anything.

Do ND students pray on a regular basis? About how much of the student body is religious?

Students run the gamut. I would suggest you look at the thread "religion at ND." I know atheists and I also know people intent on going to seminary after college. Most people are in between. ND is not that different from any other major university in that no one's going to judge you for your religious beliefs or lack thereof. We're not Bob Jones :).

I don't think you'll have a problem at ND. I'm not a fan of religion either and I love it there. Of course, I went to Catholic schools my whole life and therefore it's probably less "weird" to me than it might be to you, but I still doubt that it would be a big deal.

within the rooms surrounding mine this past year, there were 6 atheists...basically if you go looking for catholicism you'll find it, but you're not required to...i'm a lapsed catholic and went to mass maybe 5 times all year...and compared to many of my friends that was a lot

Naturally this question comes up all the time. I've come up with a list of threads that deal with this issue. Hopefully this answers all of you questions!

haha thanks guys!
It seems like ND is a Catholic school, but most of the students are very open and being atheist will not be a big deal!

I do have another question though. (I am pretty into sports--well kinda--but not a fanatic or anything)
How big of a sports school is ND? Super big? ;)

How big of a sports school is ND? Super big?

Definitely one of the biggest aspects of ND is cheering for the Fighting Irish
If you are in to sports, there is no place better than ND. Where 90 percent of the student body played at least 1 varsity sport. Where the athletic department is ranked number 7 in the nation.
Watch some of these:

woooh! Go Irish

"How big of a sports school is ND? Super big?"

Notre Dame is a great sports school. I don't even mean just cheering on the Irish, either--there's also a big interest in pro sports and college sports in general, besides ND specifically. Plus there are tons of intramurals and club teams as well.
