A kid from my H.S was complaining that his professors at the local CC are very anti - Christian. He said that the school has a place for Muslims to pray but they have no church or anything for Catholics. Its really a shame I think that Christians are being persecuted and no one is saying anything but God forbid if it was a Muslim. All religions should be treated equally and with respect. A teacher who is open about his politics, views on religion, etc, is not a very good professor in my opinion.

Oh please.

How many Muslim/Jewish/Wiccan/Buddhist etc holidays are also federal holidays? How many major holidays for any other religion are automatically considered time off for the vast majority of jobs? I worked yesterday, on Easter, and got paid double time because it’s a holiday. I also worked Christmas and same thing. I’ve also worked on other religious (non-Christian) holidays and got paid the exact same amount as I normally do. Why? Because we only “observe”, as a collective nation, “Christian” holidays.

Don’t give me that Christians-are-persecuted crap. They’re plenty lofty still.

lol the Christian persecution complex is one of my favorite ones

We’ve gotta be the only country in the world (except maybe France- they’ve got a complex about a lot of things) where the non-target group is absolutely convinced that they’re being persecuted.

Maybe some other countries do that, too, but no where I’ve traveled. Meh.

What about the non wealthy complaining about how the rich treats them? Or whites complaining about how affirmative action affects them? A group does not have to be a minority for this to happen.
It’s not surprising to me that most of the people who think that a “Christian persecution complex” is common are not Christians themselves. Throwing holidays at them does not stop professors from making anti-christian statements in class more than having a black history month stop racial discrimination.

Thank you for making my point montag

Mon, a professor or two making an anti-Christian comment is NOT persecution.

Btw, the only reason I used the word persecution is because columbia did. Christians are not persecuted in this country.

No but they are in other parts of the world like the Middle East and Africa. Christians are not persecuted to that extent here, but you can not say that we are immune from being discriminated against. Although I haven’t encountered it yet in college (probably because I go to a Jesuit school), I’m sure that it is a problem in some colleges with these lunatic professors. Why can’t they lecture us about how the Communists killed millions of people or all the horrific things Mao Zedong did to the Chinese people? Any way case in point, religions should be equal to one another, professors should keep their personal opinions to themselves, and I’m going to repeat what Mon said, “EVEN A MAJORITY COULD BE PERSECUTED OR DISCRIMINATED AGAINST”

well this ain’t Africa or the Middle East. that said I agree with what you’re trying to say. I just wouldn’t say Christians are being persecuted in colleges or in this country for that matter. If I said capitalists are being persecuted by pinko commie professors you’d probably call me crazy.

No I wouldn’t actually lmao

In a country where 2/3 of the people are either catholic or protestant, to say that Christians are being persecuted is absolutely absurd.
