<p>How big a role does religion play in day-to-day life at Holy Cross?</p>
<p>The majority of students are Catholic and the school provides Catholic religious services but these are all optional and have been since the early seventies. The school is not narrowly focused on Catholicism and offers courses in other religious outlooks. One of the leading American Islamic scholars for 20 years recently left Holy Cross to start up an Islamic Center at Georgetown (John Esposito).</p>
