I understand that JHU does not have a religious studies major, but are there opportunities to take classes about religion? I'm especially interested in eastern religions and islam, but I can't seem to find courses on JHU's website. Does anyone have any idea if it is possible to study religion at Hopkins?

Also, if I am in the college, can I take engineering courses?

Please answer ASAP because I have to make a decision in the next week! Thank you!

Hopkins does not have any real focus on eastern religions or islam currently. If that is what you are looking for the only way I can really think of you exploring it is if you got it from the woodrow wilson fellowship otherwise I’d suggest a school with the same level of academics but a focus of what you want like UChicago or Columbia or Yale.

Thanks for the input. my main interest is biology/biophysics, which is why im so drawn to hopkins. my only concern is that i wont be able to study religion as well… hm.

Hopkins does not have a Religion Department but it does have an excellent Philosophy Department and a world famous Department of Near Eastern Studies, both of which offer various courses similar to what you would find in a Religion Department. If this is insufficient, you can cross register for courses at Towson (which does have a Religion Department) or at Loyola (which has a Theology Department). You can walk to Loyola (less than a mile) or take the Collegetown Shuttle there or to Towson.
