Relocating to Baltimore - suggestions on Bmore/Howard County high schools?

I can weigh in here, as I’ve looked into renting in the area now that I’m selling my townhouse in Elkridge. My son goes to Howard and is in the JROTC program, which I highly recommend. I looked at several rental communities near the school. Zillow was a great help!

I haven’t been to a Orchard Park, but it looks nice on the website. Marriott’s Ridge is one of the newest high schools and I don’t know much about it. I don’t think my daughter had many theatre friends there. I do agree with another poster that any HOCO high school, give or take a few, would be considered a good choice compared to other nearby counties except for Montgomery County.

The Elms at Montjoy is a really great community, with mixed development of town homes and single family homes, but has limited availability right now. It is walkable from HHS but also is zoned for busing.

Another community close to HHS, but zoned for Long Reach HS, is the Villages of Montgomery Run. There are multiple 3BR condos listed for rent in that community by private owners. On the same street is a managed rental apartment complex called Ashton Woods. It was quiet and well-kept but rather expensive for an older community. If your son is accepted into the JROTC program, he can still attend HHS and live out of the zoned district but you will be responsible for transportation to and from school. It’s a 3-4 minute drive to Howard from that area.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
