I am a junior currently but I'm leaving to study abroad in Germany for the spring semester in a few weeks so my parents encouraged me to start looking at colleges now. I go to a small private school in Mass that's pretty laid-back and focuses on a strict core curriculum. I visited Middlebury, Dartmouth, Tufts, and Northeastern a couple weeks ago and I kinda liked all of them so now I honestly have no idea where to start my list of schools. I'm pretty much open to anywhere in the Northeast, Midwest, Colorado, or Cali. Your help is appreciated.

Basic profile

PSAT: 233 (CR-800)(M-760)(W-770)
Biology Subject Test: 800
Waiting on December SAT scores
~3.95 GPA (school doesn't calculate)
Rank: probably like 3 or 4/21
No honors or AP classes because my school is so small and we have zero choice for class selection
Won an honorable mention from American Society for Microbiology at Intel ISEF last year and a few other state/regional science fair awards
3 sport varsity athlete since freshman year
Few other random things not worth mentioning at this point
Caucasian
Male

Any guidance at all or school suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Your scores are certainly top-shelf but I would start working on some ECs. If you got involved with something in Germany somehow (eg. teaching English to underprivileged German children), that would look very good-but only if it was something you were sincere about, not something you were doing just for the benefit of having it on your app. Not having APs available will not hurt you, as long as you take the most difficult courses offered at your school and the most rigorous schedule. 3 sport varsity athlete looks good but won’t help you get into Dartmouth or Middlebury unless you’re ranked in one/all of them regionally or state-wide. That’s all I can give you right now; good luck and enjoy your time in Germany!

Thanks! As for ECs, I’m involved in some stuff but other than sports and science I haven’t really found anything that I’m truly passionate about. I tend to drift between different clubs activities. Thoughts?

Stanford: Reach (you’re going to need more than just Intel ISEF honorable mention and 3 sports as varsity to get in as far as ECs are concerned)

Scores are great. 3 sport varsity athlete is great (but note above), and so is Intel. Those are strong, but ECs as a whole just dont seem complete…

I think you’re in at Northeastern and Tufts, probably at Middlebury. Darthmouth is a toss up. Maybe look at schools such as WUSTL, Brown, Berkeley, Northwestern, BU, etc.
