Remaining Co-founder? How to approach...

Hello! The CommonApp has bested me yet again…

A bit over a year ago, I co-founded an organization. However around five months ago, my co-founder left. The organization is doing well and going strong, but what do I say my position is on the Activities section of the CommonApp?

If I write co-founder, how could I elaborate that I’m the only remaining co-founder left? Could I possibly write founder? Or maybe remaining co-founder? What would be best? Only 50 characters is allotted for the position and organization name and I have 8 characters left to use. 150 characters is allotted for the description, and I already know I’ll be using all of those. Any advice on how to approach this situation?

Co-founder.

You don’t.

You could write that you were a founder.

Look at it another way. Bill Gates co-founded Microsoft. He did not become the founder when Paul Allen left the company or when he died.

The title of cofounder is less important than what you actually do.

Speaking of Gates, Wiki describes him as the "principal founder"of Microsoft. Since your other co-founder has flown the coop, I think principal founder sounds accurate for your situation.

Founder or cofounder just describes what you role was at the beginning. If you are still involved, what is your role now?
