So I just got an email today from the cal grant people saying that I had a transfer entitlement award and needed to fill out a form within 30 days. Well I went on the website, made an account, and submitted the form. However, I noticed on the “View my Award Detail” it says I have 0 years of eligibility remaining. I’ve been in CC for exactly 4 years now, and I will be transferring to csuci this coming fall. I’ve NEVER received cal grant though. During my first semester at CC its showing on the cal grant website that I was not awarded, and I never applied for financial aid again until 2013/2014. Is this eligibility remaining just a glitch or just hasn’t been updated yet? It would really suck to find out that I got screwed out of 2 years for no reason, especially since I never received anything (I didn’t even have an account on the cal grant website until today…). If cal grant screws me over, will I still be able to get the state grant if I’m deemed ineligible for cal grant after being “Awarded-On Hold,” but later finding out they wont award me it?
It says remaining eligibility - 0 until your certification form is processed. I submitted mine a few days ago and it also said 0, but today it updated with my remaining eligibility.
^^^ Yes, this. It just hasn’t updated yet.
Oh, gotcha! Thanks! My heart started to race a little thinking I would get screwed over. I’ve got another quick question if you don’t mind. If all of my tuition is paid already before the cal grant is applied will I receive a check for the full 7k from the pell grant? I would like to use that money toward off campus housing, but I’m not sure if it works that way. My dad is a veteran and so I’ll be able to use a tuition waiver for csu, so I wont need the money for tuition but will def need it for room and board and books etc.
I think the max Pell Grant is $5775, not $7000.
Sorry I meant 7k for the cal grant**** didnt mean to type pell.
Update: I finally found the answer on different CSU website that stated that you cannot use a Dependents Fee Waiver in addition to receiving Cal Grant since they both pay for the same thing.
