Some schools are asking me for my musical theatre repertoire, now I'm assuming this means they want a list of songs I can sing well, no? But I'm not sure how I'm supposed to set this up. Is there a certain format or do I just list them? I'm really confused please help a girl out.

And since I'm asking about this can anyone tell me how to list a workshop on my resume? It was only one of those like day workshops where they teach you a dance and have a Q&A but I'm not sure how to list it. Thank You Everyone!

For your rep list, the format is similar to a resume. Keep it simple. It should typically be done in alphabetical order by composer in this format:

Composer Last, First [tab] Song Title

You might consider also making a special notation for songs that you’ve performed (using an asterisk or something like “[P]” might work with an explanation at the bottom). Check if the schools you’re auditioning for want something specific though. Most places just want a list so they can see what you’ve learned, but others (like UMich) have specific formatting they’re looking for as well.

As for what should be on this list, definitely everything in your book. Ensemble numbers that you’ve had a prominent solo in would be fine too. Any song you’re still comfortable with should be fair game. If you’ve got a HUGE rep list (like some of my vocal students do), you might consider taking out songs that are extremely outside of your type. Most importantly, if you list it, you had better be prepared to sing it just in case they ask! :)

As for listing a workshop on your resume, you should create a “Workshops / Camps / Classes” section (or “Workshops” or “Workshops / Classes” or whatever else is relevant to your experience) and list:

Oh my God thank you so much! Not to sound like an idiot but how many should I list and have in my book? I’m so sorry to sound so stupid but I’m sort of new to this.

Also about the workshops to I list who taught them like:
Addams Family Workshop taught by Morgan James NY,NY 2010

No worries, there’s a lot to think about when going through this process!

As a starting point, you might want to try to have 1 up-tempo and 1 ballad pre-1965, 1 up-tempo and 1 ballad post-1965. BUT – don’t look at your rep list or book in quantitative terms. It is likely that your rep list will be bigger, simply because your book should focus on your strongest audition material and thus is a bit more type specific than your rep list. My best advice for you would be to simply be honest about what you’ve done and go from there. If it means you’ve only got those 4 songs or you’ve got 20, you can be assured that you’re bringing the material that’s best prepared for you. Same thing goes for your rep list.

As for the workshop, listing the instructor is really only necessary with master classes. List the exact title of the workshop - if it includes the “taught by Morgan James,” then keep it, but if it doesn’t, it’s not necessary.

Hope that helps, and I’ll send you a PM so you’ve got my info in case you want me to take a look at anything.
