Reply Card

Hi,

I was wondering if the May 1 Deadline is a postmark or received-by deadline. Does anybody know that? Thanks!

My husband sent the confirmation deposit. Do you have to send a reply card too? My son filled out the on-line acceptance form.

There's an online acceptance form? I can't send the deposit yet, since I'm a spring admit. They don't let us pay until June...

mdcissp. We also sent the deposit, and received a letter in the mail. I don't think reply card is needed.

awlex: I think I would give them a call just to make sure about the deadline for spring admits. Does your acceptance letter give any instructions about how/when to confirm that you are attending?

The letter doesn't, but the spring brochure does:

indicate your interest in accepting our spring admission offer by returning the reply card, by May 1, 2008.

you must visit USC Admission between June 1 and August 1, 2008 to complete the Enrollment Commitment Deposit form and submit your nonrefundable $300 deposit electronically by August 1, 2008.

That's what it says. So I hope I'm all set for now.

My daughter accepted her online. She's already received an email from the Department Chair congratulated her. She also received a letter from USC to remind her to send in her AP scores. So you can accept it online. There is no need to send in the reply card this late, it could get lost in the regular mail.

My son's AP scores were sent in the original application. These scores were evaluated and my son has received credit. If your AP scores are at least a 3, send them in. From what I can tell, USC does not give credit for scores of 1 and 2.

@Columbia_Student: Is your daughter a spring admit?

^She is fall admit.

Regarding AP scores, she is waiting for Senior year AP scores before sending them. She is planning to take 4 or 5 APs this May.

awelex - As I read it, if you mail the card by May 1, that should be fine. Still, it wouldn't hurt to also email USC, explaining that you are an international student and the mail might take awhile. But you should know that there's another form you need to send in: this week my S received a letter from the film school asking him to accept his spring admission. It was very explicit that it needed to be received by May 1 or they would drop him off the list. If you have not received that yet, you should email someone in the SCA admission office.

rainmama: Thanks a lot, I got that form about a week ago. Mailed it today with DHL, so I hope it gets there in time. So, your son made up his mind, then? Is he going?
By the way: Can you login to the online deposit thing?

Soooo, rainmama.... I realize he has several days left and all, but has your s made his decision yet??? lol

He's filming a movie this week - one that he's been scripting for eons - so we're not allowed to talk about college :)

awelex - We haven't tried the online deposit thing, as we're not allowed to talk about college at our house :)

Um, my son isn't filming anything, but we are not allowed to talk about high school OR college at my house. lol.

At my house, we're no longer allowed to talk about second semester grades or APs. D goes into complete '' I'm invisible, my mom is talking to the air" mode if I bring up the subject.

Wow, you all seem to be very easy-going parents :D

Oh yeah, we're chill! (Actually, anything but, in my case. That's why we all hang out on CC, so we can channel our angst away from our kids!)

Sequoia: Do you think senioritis is real at this time of year? I think my son is tired from all of the work of 5 APs and just wants to enjoy the rest of senior year with graduation 5 weeks away.

mdcissp: Yes I think it is. For the first time I see that my D is not as motivated as before particularly in a couple of required subjects that she's not that interested in. She's not putting her all into the studying, papers etc.
They are tired, and looking forward to college and all that it entails (networking, looking at courses, etc) is a big distraction.

D is still studying hard. I least that's the reason why she always used to throw me out of her room when I want to talk USC.:)
She seems to get better grades than last semester, even I've already told her this is the semester to relax. She ordered books for AP tests eventhough I said not to bother to study. I think it does affect different kid differently. I think last semester, she studied under pressure, this semester she does not have that pressure, she can see the finish line.
