Replying to Mail?

As a junior, I've started to receive loads of mail from different colleges (today I got 7 letters).
Some of them I'm absolutely not interested in and just throw the letters away. Others I'm not sure about.

Is their any downside to replying to the mail if I might possibly be interested/not really interested in? I know I'll be flooded with more mail, but apart from that.
Also, all the letters are like "We'll send you this/that!" Are the things they send helpful? If one of them sounds interesting, should I reply for it even if I'm not interested in the school?

uhm I don’t think there’s a downside to replying to a mailing… it never hurts. Just don’t expect it to improve your chances of admission.
