Good to know. Thx.
Hi!
I can see that you’re against sending your scores and seem to already have your mind made up but I figured I’d share my two cents.
It’s my understanding that sending AP scores officially isn’t very expensive. But, I don’t know your financial situation so what isn’t expensive for me may be expensive for you. So if you’ve already looked up the cost and think it would be too much then disregard that.
But, I vaguely remember that you’re able to send a certain number of scores for free. Something like 5 I want to say. However, I don’t remember if there’s a time limit on being able to do that. Just something I thought I would share if you wanted to look into it.
Also, my CC didn’t need me to send the official scores when I used them for credit, I just made copies of my official score report and they were perfectly fine. Maybe UCs want things to be a little more official but I don’t see why they would since its just AP scores and you’re not a freshman applicant.
I just think that if you passed AP exams in high school then it could be beneficial to your application. It shows you went above and beyond in high school. A UCLA rep talked at my school about how you want as much information on your application as possible, as it can only help you not hurt you. So things like AP scores or a good SAT/ACT score in high school, even though they aren’t officially in transfer admissions, can still be beneficial to include on your application. Or at least that’s what she told us
@karmavee They primarily care about what the applicant has achieved in college, to my knowledge (unless an applicant cured cancer in high school, or something similarly significant). Certainly it couldn’t hurt - and I don’t see why OP wouldn’t want to get the extra units - but it’s not necessary, apparently.
During this back and forth I looked online. Supposedly (at least how I interpreted it), your first send to any college will include all tests for one price. No altering. They’re all sent. After that, you can pick and choose.
Thus, if one really didn’t want the UC to see scores of 1 or 2 (not that they care because they don’t) you could, I suppose, be a little tricky and send the first report to some arbitrary college (LIKE HARVARD!) :^o …
…Then for your second send - which is the designated UC - pick and choose the ones you want.
But I personally think whether the scores are used or not, it shows initiative, pushing yourself outside the envelope, yada yada, and you can only benefit by sending them.
BTW, in terms of canceling, it said it must be done by some date in June in the same year you took the exam.
