Reporting all CC grades when transferring?

First off, I apologize if I’m in the wrong form, I’m new!

My first two years at a Cali CC I did horribly. My last semester I ended with an overall gpa of 1.43. I got my act together and switched Cali CC’s, started with a clean slate and I now have a 3.8 in my current college. I plan on transferring to a University in California next year, but I’m just anxious my grades from my first CC will ruin my chances. However, I do know someone who transferred last yearr with the same type of story as myself. He did not add the bad CC grades and he got into every single college he applied to. Any advice?

What you mean by “He did not add the bad CC grades” Does that mean he didn’t send his transcript for that particular college and never mention about his first college in his application? If so, he should be expelled and get kicked out ASAP.

Agreed with @bvo112. You must report all transcripts and not doing so can result in admissions being rescinded or worse your degree being taken back.

You can’t start over with a clean slate - all of your college grades will affect you. That said, you may be able to apply for academic renewal at your old CC to have the grades removed from your transcripts, with them ultimately not factoring into your GPA. I’m not too familiar with that process - look on your old CC’s website or call them to see if they offer academic renewal.

Also, if you retake classes you failed, the old grades will be replaced with the new grades in your GPA. Again, talk to somebody from the CC to see what your best options are.

You need to send all of your transcripts when you apply to transfer. If you will complete an AA or AS at your current CC before transferring out, you have to send your old transcripts to your current CC. That is a formal requirement if you want to be an AA or AS degree candidate there. I am surprised that they haven’t asked for your previous transcripts.

So, get your old, bad transcript sent to your current CC. Have your counselors there figure out whether any of that coursework applies toward your current studies, and whether or not you can do academic renewal for any of the old, bad grades. You want everything to be in as good a shape as possible when you apply for transfer.

He never sent his old CC’s transcripts nor did he list them when he applied. He transferred last year and has been attending the college without any problems.

I just looked through my old colleges website and they do offer renewal! I wasn’t even aware this existed. I am pretty sure I qualify as well, I am setting up a meeting with counselor next week. Thank you!

Of course he didn’t have any problems because he hasn’t been caught for being academically dishonest on his application.

Your friend should go meet with his advisor, and come clean about the transcripts. The place where he is studying can expel him or even take back his diploma after finishing if he doesn’t get the transcript issue sorted out.
