Reporting Changes to Berkeley (help!)

First off, why are all the admissions officers so unhelpful? I feel bad that they're always so hasty in answering questions without thinking about their answers thoroughly.

I suppose it might be due to the barrage of questions they get from other students that would easily be answered by looking on the admissions website.

Anyway, I called Berkeley and asked how I would report changes to my coursework for this semester and IGETC certification, etc.

They said to fax 510-642-7333.

That's all she said.

I don't know whether to trust her or not. I need to report:

-That my IGETC WILL be certified. This is imperative because it's a precondition for acceptance into the College of L&S.
-That I have dropped a course and replaced it with another one

What do I do? Both are extremely important and I'm feeling very uneasy that these things will jeopardize my acceptance (particularly IGETC-- the foreign language requirement I've been battling).

Thanks!

Office Location and Mailing Address:
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
University of California, Berkeley
110 Sproul Hall #5800
Berkeley, CA 94720-5800

You can try sending an official letter to the above address to make sure they get the information as well as fax the letter you are going to send. I think that would be the best bet.

I would suggest you send it via registered mail so that you can know for sure that they received it. Also, follow up on the fax. Make sure that you know the name of the office to which you are faxing so that you can find their number and call.

hahaha!

I think you have your answer.

i, for one, am glad to know that a few of us are ahead of the competition.

Touche.

However, I hardly think overlooking the FAQs on a webpage makes you a less advantageous candidate.

And…

I don’t know why there’s a link to a UCLA webpage…I already reported my changes to UCLA. My inquiry was regarding Cal.

Nonetheless, thank you person who posted the FAQ! :)

I, for one, am glad to know that a 3.9-ish is far superior to a 3.5-ish.

i wasn’t speaking to you particularly, nick.
it’s just that so many posts have surfaced asking the same questions, most of which can be answered by a 5 minute exploration of an admissions web site.

regardless…
i can explain my 3.5, and did.
with instructions readily available for months now, how well do you think you’ll be able to explain incorrectly sending your info to 3 places before finding the right one?

i must admit though, his comeback on the UCLA link was a good burn.

but the gpa comeback… ehhh, that’s pretty flawed.

Likewise my post wasn’t directed particularly at you, pinkerfloyd. I appreciate your membership here as you always have insightful posts and insight, and our mutual exchange of ideas for the past few months, I’m sure, has benefited both of us.

I’m glad you did. Hopefully we can be roomies at Berkeley if and when we are both accepted.

Do enlighten me: where in my entire post history have I ever indicated that I’ve “sent” my information to “3” places before finding the “right one”?

here we go…

hahah.
no, no.
we’re not ‘going’ anywhere.
nick, i’m sure you’ll handle your business.
chibi, ucla link? / what?

Silence is consent. Lol. You guys, I’m not serious about debating these inutile issues; I’m sure it’s well-understood that any arguments here are to be taken lightly…almost as lightly as helium.

Good luck everyone! And thanks again for the good info!

Holy smack nick, you must have done high school debate as well. Unfortunately, the same rules don’t apply in the real world (or at least on CC), lol.

pinker, i was referring to his notice that youramonkey posted a UCLA link which was totally non-topical. if this were a debate world, i would run a topicality K, yo.

Please tell them that you are going to finish your IGETC ASAP, because without IGETC you are pretty much out of question for Berkeley.
